Insurance / workers’ compensation
Activity checks and inconsistency reviews for carriers and defense counsel — written so a claim file can use them.
What it is
Insurance and workers’ compensation investigations document what a claimant or insured can actually do, and whether that matches the claim as it was written. The usual tools are surveillance, locates, background, and scene work. The product is an activity log and media that an adjuster or defense attorney can put in the file. It is not a medical opinion and it is not a decision on benefits. We do not coach a claimant and we do not pretend to be from the carrier when we are in the field. Lawful purpose and a Texas claim or a Texas subject are the starting point.
How J.I.S handles it in Texas
Carriers and defense firms send assignments to the Helotes office. We cover the county where the claimant lives, works, or treats, anywhere in Texas. Posts are planned around the restrictions and the daily pattern you already have, not around a guess. We stay off private medical campuses when we have no right to be there. Reports are written for people who have already been burned by sloppy video. If the claimant is inactive that week, we say so instead of stretching a nothing day into a finding. License A24038101 is on the invoice.
What the client receives
You receive a dated activity report, stills or video, and a short statement of what the footage can and cannot show. Inconsistencies are pointed out; we do not invent them. The Client Portal is the handoff so the claim file and the investigator file stay aligned. If more days are justified, we recommend them with a reason. If the first block answered the question, we stop. Billing follows the scope you approved.
Who uses it
Insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and defense counsel use this work on Texas workers’ compensation, liability, and related claims. Employers call when a claim and a workplace story do not match. We also support SIU-style reviews when the carrier wants an independent field file. If you are a claimant looking for your own investigator, we can talk; we will not take a file that creates a conflict with a carrier we already serve on the same matter.
Questions we hear
- Do you work directly for carriers?
- Yes. Carriers, TPAs, and defense counsel are regular clients. Private employers and their lawyers also send files. Tell us who already has the claim so we can check conflicts.
- Will the claimant be told?
- Surveillance is discreet. We do not call the claimant to announce an activity check. Recorded statements, if you need them, are a separate, lawful assignment.
- What if the video shows nothing useful?
- Then the report says the claimant was not observed doing the activity in question. That is still information. We do not pad the file to force a conclusion.
