What we do

J.I.S Private Investigations is a licensed Texas firm that takes the fieldwork attorneys, insurers, businesses, and private clients actually hire. We run discreet surveillance for insurance defense, workers’ compensation, family law, and other lawful documentation that can stand up later. Background checks cover identity, criminal and civil history, and hidden-risk reviews before someone decides. We locate people — and vehicles when the file calls for it — last tied to Texas, then serve papers including subjects who have already ducked a knock. Child-custody and infidelity matters are documented for counsel, not as a parenting recommendation or a public spectacle. Insurance-fraud and workers’ compensation files get activity checks; civil and criminal defense counsel get witness location, scene work, and litigation support from investigators who hold an active Texas license.

Jered Gallegos founded J.I.S Private Investigations to put a licensed Texas investigator on the file instead of sending people through a matching directory. He holds Texas license A24038101 and runs the firm from the Helotes office on Bandera Road. The work he staffs is the work the firm still does: surveillance, locates, process serving, background checks, family-law documentation, and support for attorneys and insurers. Clients reach the same desk whether the matter is in Bexar County or four hundred miles away. Jered built the Client Portal so messages, files, and retainer stay on the case after the first call. If you want to talk before you start an assessment, call (210) 960-4861.

Field Surveillance

Licensed investigators work from a vehicle, a foot post, or a fixed location when the file calls for it. We photograph and video activity that can be dated, placed, and handed to counsel. Insurance defense, workers’ compensation, family-law, and other lawful documentation are the usual reasons a client asks for this. The investigator does not confront the subject or create a scene. Notes, stills, and video stay on the case in the Client Portal. If the matter is in Texas, we staff the ground work from Helotes.

Research & Intelligence

Not every answer is on a street. Analysts pull records, skip-trace leads, and compare what the field team saw with what the databases show. Background checks, locates, asset and associate reviews, and litigation support start at a desk before anyone rolls. We look at identity, criminal and civil history, and the paper trail that hides a person or a claim. Findings are written so an attorney or claims adjuster can use them. The same desk that takes your call keeps the research and the surveillance on one file.

Where we serve

J.I.S works every Texas county. The corporate office is at 12274 Bandera Rd, Suite 103-A, Helotes, TX 78023, minutes from Loop 1604 and San Antonio. Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley, and the smaller cities in between are staffed as one statewide practice — not a list of other agencies. If the person, claim, court, or incident is in Texas, we can take the assignment from Helotes and put a licensed investigator on the ground. City pages below are for the places clients ask about most; they are not a service-area limit. Start a case from any of them, or call (210) 960-4861 and we will tell you who covers that county this week.
